PREPARATION WORK BEGINS ON A96 AT ALVES FOR NEW 20MPH ZONE PAST ALVES PRIMARY SCHOOL
Amey is undertaking electrical work on the A96 at Alves in Moray in preparation for a new part-time 20mph zone to be introduced past Alves Primary School.
The work will take place from Monday 15th May to Friday 19th May between 8am-7pm each day.
Work will be taking place on the A96 and two adjacent minor roads, Coltfield Road (adjacent to the primary school) and Smiddy Place.
Lane closures will be deployed within and in the vicinity of Alves along with temporary traffic signals where required.
The work, which Amey is undertaking on behalf of Transport Scotland, will create a 24/7 power supply on the trunk road that will allow for the implementation of a part time 20mph speed limit at Alves primary school, ensuring safe speeds for school children at this location.
The electrical work will also act as preparation for an extension of the existing 40mph speed limit.
Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
